Publishing with iWeb

Doteasy Tutorials - Publishing

iWeb makes it easy to create a website that’s stunningly beautiful — and totally you. Start with an Apple-designed theme, then customize it with your own text, photos, movies, and podcasts until it’s exactly what you want. And switch themes with a click anytime.

Start iWeb and choose your template.

Edit the website content as necessary.

To begin the process of publishing to your server, click Publish to a folder... under the File tab. Note that iWeb cannot directly publish to a web server. After publishing the website content to a folder, FTP software must be used to upload the files to your server.

Choose a folder location within your computer to store your site. Note that the web address entered on this screen is only for RSS feeds by iWeb.

The default location will be called Sites in your Documents folder.

Start your FTP software and connect to your web server. In this example we use Fetch.

For those customers using Ultra Hosting, Unlimited Hosting or PHP/MySQL, remember to double-click on /Mainwebsite_HTML folder shortcut to get to your root website publishing location.

Once connected, open your Sites folder located in your Documents folder with Finder.

Drag and drop your files and folders from your Sites directory in Finder to the FTP server window to upload your website. You may overwrite any files when asked if you wish to overwrite.

Congratulations your website should now be published and should be visible in your web browser.

* If changes are not visible after you have uploaded new content to your website, please try clearing your browser cache or temporary internet files and reload the page again.
