The most effective way is to visit each of the top search engines and ask them to add your site. These search engines and web directories will require your URL. The URL (Universal Resource Locator) is your full website address (for example http://www.yourdomain.com).
Click on any of the following search engine links as they will lead you to their website submission page. If a search engine of your preference is not listed, simply go to to the search engine site and look for a link called 'add URL' or 'add website'.
Each search engine has its own method of ranking. To be properly indexed on search engines follow these tips:
1. Give each webpage on your site a relevant title with keywords describing the content of that page. Enter those keywords in the <TITLE>html tag. Those words are what a browser will display in its title bar. Generally don't put more that 10 words there.
2. Use <META> tags. They provide additional info to search engines to better index your site. You add them between the <HEAD> tags. For example:
<META name="description" content="Describe your website in a phrase or sentence"> <META name="keywords"content="keywords, short phrases, that, describe, your site">
3. Don't spam search engines by repeating keywords many times in the above tags or use keyword not relevant to your site. If you do so, most search engines will just exclude your site.
